Starbucks New Whole Bean Coffees for Home Brewing

starbucks whole beanStarbucks customers can now purchase a new presentation of whole bean coffees to brew at home. Dubbed seasonal coffees, these coffees are limited in quantity, harvested at the peak of their season, batch-roasted to unmatched perfection, and offered at participating Starbucks U.S. retail stores for a limited time. This spring, two single origin Latin American coffees take the spotlight–Colombia Nariño Supremo and Brazil Ipanema Bourbon™.

“Like Black Truffles in the winter or peaches in August, these coffees are harvested in-season when they are at their peak of flavor,” explains Anthony Carroll, manager of Green Coffee Quality at Starbucks. “We are truly identifying the best of the best and offering the highest quality coffee picked in its finest state during the season.”

Seasonal coffees are available in 1lb. bags of whole bean and denoted by their “farmers-market-style craft paper” roll stock, which includes information about the elevation at which the coffee was grown, the farms or estates from which it was harvested, processing method, as well as each coffee’s unique flavor characteristics.

Colombia Nariño Supremo is a medium-bodied coffee known for its ripe juiciness, signature nutty flavor found in coffees from the Nariño region, and followed by a dry finish. This coffee is best paired with walnuts and pungent herbs.

Brazil Ipanema Bourbon™ is a mild coffee with subtle cocoa notes and a nutty aftertaste not typically found in Brazilian coffees. Bourbon refers to the specific variety of coffee plant from which these single-origin beans originate. Other Starbucks® single origin coffees come from a specific geographic area but are not always from a single coffee variety. Starbucks has an exclusive on this exquisite coffee. Brazil Ipanema Bourbon® pairs well with nuts and milk chocolate.

New Seasonal coffees from Starbucks will be presented throughout the year when they are at their best.
